What Sets Us Apart
SafetyComm is a pioneering initiative dedicated to combating cyber threats in South Sudan. Our platform serves as a vital support system, offering assistance to victims of online harm, creating public awareness about cyber risks, and building the capacity of governmental, non-governmental, and private sector actors to address emerging digital challenges.
Established for a Safer Digital Experience
Launched in 2021 with support from the National Communication Authority, SafetyComm has already handled over 250 cyber incidents, solidifying its role as the nation’s only publicly available cyber support center. From tackling impersonation and social media hacking to addressing online scams and cyberbullying, SafetyComm has been at the forefront of ensuring digital safety for citizens and institutions alike.
Adapting to an Evolving Digital Landscape
With increased broadband connectivity and the introduction of 4G in major towns across South Sudan, the country has seen a rise in sophisticated cyber threats such as ransomware, revenge porn, cyber extortion, and fraud. To address these challenges, SafetyComm revised its mission to:
"Provide a safer digital experience for citizens by reducing all forms of harm resulting from cyber threats."
This shift has allowed us to adopt a more robust approach to combating cyber risks and expanding our impact.
